End Point and Edge QoS software complements Cisco WAAS
NetPriva End Point Direct and Edge Virtual Gateway complement Cisco WAAS with quality of service (QoS) control to ensure that important application traffic such as SAP, CRM, and VoIP is guaranteed the minimum bandwidth for consistent and good user response times. Non time sensitive or unimportant traffic is constrained to the background. Non sanctioned traffic can be stopped altogether. NetPriva software improves every important application user's experience and productivity.
Key points about NetPriva solutions to complement Cisco WAAS:
Instant real time visibility of important application traffic to / from each user PC.
Automatically identifies all applications, including custom applications, for ease of visibility and classification into “important”, “non time sensitive / important”, “unsanctioned”.
Templates to quickly set up / manage policies to guarantee bandwidth to important applications - by application or user by Port, source or destination IP address, Protocol (TCP, UDP), URL (for example *salesforce*), and for Citrix via the ICA traffic tags. Can be extended to application (executable) name, and user (login) by installing NetPriva End Point Direct Agent on each user PC.
Policies activated only at times of congestion, dynamic use of bandwidth at all times.
Where Edge Virtual Gateway and End Point Direct are deployed in combination, policies are applied prior to encryption for network performance and security.
Facility to mark / color packets (DiffServ) for routing management.
Packet headers not altered ensuring network transparency.
PC mobility - where Edge Vitual Gateway and End Point Direct are deployed in combination, user PCs automatically find their policy according to location.
Time and cost effective troubleshooting – per second granularity, real time visibility and instant replay of network scenarios.
Economical – Flexible per enterprise seat and bandwidth licensing.
End Point Direct and Edge Virtual Gateway each have a small software footprint as well as no noticeable impact on PC performance or LAN performance in a branch or remote office location.
System and deployment notes End Point Direct runs on Windows XP/2000 and Windows server 2003 platforms. Configurable to run on PCs or servers running Microsoft ICS, VPN, or RAS and Cisco VPN. Configurable to provide visibility and shaping for non Windows devices in the one location, including network printers, VoIP hard phones, and Linux devices.
